Dublin, Ireland | March 15-23, 2025
In this course, students have a unique opportunity to explore health beliefs, practices and health care delivery systems in Ireland. Through a combination of local and international perspectives, students will examine the social and scientific factors that influence health across different cultures. The course will focus on how historical, cultural and societal influences shape health behaviors and health care practices in Ireland.
Students will engage with local communities, health care professionals and academic experts to gain a deeper understanding of the intersection between culture and health in both the Irish context and the broader global landscape.
In addition health care-related site visits, students will have the opportunity to visit the Gaelic Games Exhibition, Explorium National Sport and Science Center and the Cliffs of Moher.

Course KINE 40713
Lima, Urubamba and Cusco, Peru | May 13-29, 2025
In this course, students will visit the National Institute of Rehabilitation Hospital, gaining insights into cutting-edge health care practices, engage with Sacred Valley Health, working alongside initiatives for indigenous communities, and collaborate with the Yanapasun Association, supporting vulnerable populations in the region.
Beyond academics, students will explore the breathtaking Sacred Valley, experience the vibrant traditions of the Paru Paru community and marvel at the ancient ruins of Sacsayhuamán and the world-renowned Machu Picchu.

Madrid and Sevilla, Spain | May 12-29, 2025
The course examines social, cultural and scientific factors related to health beliefs and practices as well as health care delivery systems in Madrid and Seville. Various practice sites such as community health clinics, health and fitness facilities, local hospitals and other sites that provide health care will be visited.
Students will also have the opportunity to explore the culture of the area through a cooking class, visiting museums, going on walking tours of the area and entertainment, such as flamenco dancing.

Dublin, Ireland | June 3-17, 2025
This course examines global health with an emphasis on women, social justice and health care. Educational site visits will include guest lecturers on various topics related to women and health care in Ireland.
Students will also have the opportunity to participate in an overnight excursion in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and visit the Dublin Castle and Kilmainham Gaol. Additional cultural day trips may include visits to the Causey Farms and Gaelic Games.

This course aims to give the students a historical and current view of the United Kingdom’s health care system. Under the guidance of local health care officials, nurses and doctors, students will explore different aspects of health care delivery, policy and practice. Students will also gain an understanding of how culture, diet and lifestyle contribute to environments and systems of health.
